WHO NEEDS FIRST AID SERVICES?

Any event that involves people, be it a sporting event, concert, fete, or any other public gathering, organisers have a duty both legally and morally to provide a healthy and safe environment for participants. This means they also should provide a range of services to assist people should they get into trouble or need help. In Autralia, the Guidelines for Healthy and Safety Mass Gatherings prepared by the Federal Government's Emergency Management Agency, lays down basic requirements for organises to follow. These are in addition to specific occupational health and safety or local government planning legislation which is in place. These documents require organisers to have sufficient first aid facilities to cater for the expected size and nature of the event to meet their common and statutory legal requirements.

Everyone who organises a public event with any risk to health or reasonable number of people must have first aid or health services available to participants and spectators.
