A Message from the CEO

UniMed spent it's short history trying to provide volunteers with excellent opportunities and the community with a first rate service. These two ideas are related as the quality of our service is a direct result of our care and respect for our volunteers. People are what make UniMed what it is, and we value this resource highly.

UniMed is a relative newcomer to the Australian first aid scene, but we are proud to be the first survivors in what is a difficult and challenging area for nearly 100 years. We started in 1998 with seven volunteers. Today we have over 60 trained, professional and motivated volunteers working on some ofthe largest events in the country.

We value our relationship with the other major volunteer providers of first aid, St John Ambulance Australia and the Australian Red Cross, and look forward to continuing to work with these organisations towards the continued provision of first aid to the community using professional and well trained volunteers. Likewise we support the work of ethically minded and professional event medical companies who are providing a unique specialist services to Australian events.

UniMed is an exciting and dynamic organisation and presents a range of opportunities for many. I encourage people who are interested in a unique, supportive and rewarding volunteer experience to contact us to discuss UniMed membership.

It has been a long hard road for UniMed over the last five years, but the results have been astounding. Our latest inroads into providing specialist teams for dance parties and raves have earned us an international reputation. Our volunteer first aiders are now a familiar site in the Australian events scene.

We hope the next five years will bring as much success as the last. We thank all of our volunteers and clients for their support, and hope that Australian events continue to become safer places.
